The met department states that the low pressure area is located to the East of Sri Lanka. It will move towards Sri Lankan area and hence showery weather in the Eastern half of the country will be further enhanced. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces. Heavy falls more than 100 mili meters are also likely at some places. Duty Meteorologist Nimal Bandara requests the General public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
